Match Report

Oct 12 Elmwood The 'Invincibles' are despatched with relative ease. Politics and other things have left them a depleted force. They may well struggle this season. We'll see....
Oct 25 Whitby They turned up minus a player, and we graciously allowed them to default on the top board, resulting in their top board playing our 2nd and so on. It nearly cost us the bloody win too!
Nov 17 Boro Rooks While they're strong throughout, their lower order is particularly good, needless to say they scored three wins on the bottom boards. Well done to them.
Dec 6 Darlington 3 3 Our three points all came from the top four boards. Darlo were missing a couple of players too. They're a pretty strong outfit this season.
Dec 20 Athenaeum We ended up playing this home fixture away. Home and away players made it to Peterlee but our place was double booked. Well done to Athenaeum for swiftly rearranging he match.
Jan 12 Boro Wasps Top of the table clash ends with us 'stung' by the Wasps! 'The Vitch' missed a # in 3 And Bruster actually lost for a change! It could've all been so different. Its not over yet though.
Feb 7 Elmwood 1 5 A convincing victory. Elmwood are indeed struggling this season. They find themselves real relegation candidates.
Feb 19 Whitby Another narrow victory, Armbruster gets game of the night. Smith wins lucky get award for snatching a draw from the jaws of defeat.
Mar 7 Boro Rooks 1 5 Sweet revenge, a rare demolition job of the Rooks. Simpson wins game of the night, closely followed by Smith. A couple of nice finishes.
Mar 27 Darlington No wins from the top four boards, and that with our strongest line-up this season too! But hey, its a team game after all. One of our two wins was a superb finish from 'too tall' on the bottom board.
Apr 9 Athenaeum That's five wins in a row. No really outstanding games to report, perhaps the best of the bunch was Carters win on board five.
Apr 23 Boro Wasps All games were finished save board 2, 'The Grinder' was in full flow, a pawn up, opponent with about a minute on the clock, swap Queens off to a winning ending, job done. He opted to threaten mate on g7, in the process allowing a helpmate on h1. The Wasps, amazingly, somehow finish the season unbeaten!
